The lockout is over and fantasy baseball season is heating up. To start your 2022 draft prep, here are 60 facts to know for the upcoming season.

1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 48 homers in 2021 were the most ever for a hitter age-22 or younger.

2. After the All-Star break Juan Soto hit .348/.525/.639 with a 199 wRC+ (87 walks and 41 Ks).

3. Soto joined Ted Williams as the only players age-22 or younger to total 150 hits and 130 walks in a single season.

4. Trea Turner hit at least .300 during every month of the 2021 season.

5. Corbin Burnes’ 1.63 FIP from 2021 was the second-lowest mark for an ERA qualifier since 1960.

6. During the second half of 2021 Bryce Harper posted a .476 OBP, a .713 SLG, and a 1.188 OPS.

7. Gerrit Cole had a stretch from July 10th through September 1st, which was “post sticky stuff” where his 34.0 K-BB% was better than his April/May rate of 33.5%.

8. Luis Robert returned from the injured list on August 9th. From that point on he hit .350/.389/.622 with 12 homers and a 173 wRC+.

9. Max Scherzer posted a 0.78 ERA in his first nine starts after being traded to the Dodgers last summer.

10. Freddie Freeman hit .300 or better for the fifth time in six seasons in 2021. He has also led the National League in runs in back-to-back years.

11. Cedric Mullins was the only player to go 30/30 last year.

12. Marcus Semien homered on 18.4% of his fly balls in 2021. Heading into the season he had homered on just 11.2% of his fly balls in his career.

13. Zack Wheeler led MLB in innings in 2021.

14. From May 1st on Kyle Tucker hit .320/.387/.600 with a 166 wRC+ and led the American League in AVG, OBP, SLG, wOBA and wRC+.

15. Mike Trout has played fewer games than Giancarlo Stanton over the past five years.

16. Starling Marte tied a career-high with 47 stolen bases last year. His 28.4 ft/s sprint speed was basically as fast as he’s always been.

17. Whit Merrifield stole 40 bases in 2021, but his OPS+ has fallen from 120 to 111 to 105 to 91 since 2018.

18. Of 157 pitchers with at least 400 IP since 2016, Julio Urias has the lowest HR/FB rate at 8.4%. Second place is all the way up at 10.1%.

19. Wander Franco tied Frank Robinson’s 43-game on-base streak for players aged 20 or younger last season.

20. Franco was also just one of 10 rookies ever to post at least a 120 OPS+ with at least 308 plate appearances.

21. Aaron Nola’s 4.63 ERA was the fifth highest among all qualifiers last season. However, his expected stats painted a better picture, led by a 3.37 xERA and 3.37 xFIP.

22. Yordan Alvarez under performed his xSLG (.571) by 40 points (.531 SLG).

23. From August 1st through the end of the season Tyler O’Neill hit .318/.391/.641. He finished with 34 home runs and 15 stolen bases.

24. Pete Alonso registered a 26.2 K% in his first two seasons, but he lowered it to 19.9% in 2021. He also under performed his expected slugging percentage (.519 versus .541).

25. Robbie Ray’s 11.2 K/9 rate is the highest of all time entering 2022.

26. Through June 11th Charlie Morton threw his curve 33.7% of the time and recorded a 4.50 ERA. From that point on he threw it 38.5% of the time and had a 2.71 ERA.

27. Austin Riley led MLB third basemen in OPS in 2021 (.898) but he had the third highest BABIP among all qualified hitters (.368).

28. Randy Arozarena had the fifth highest BABIP in baseball at .363 last year. He also had the second biggest wOBA versus xwOBA difference according to Baseball Savant.

29. Josh Hader’s fastball averaged a career-high 96.4 mph. His career-best 1.23 ERA ranked second among qualified relievers.

30. Liam Hendriks led relief pitchers with a 16.1 K/BB rate. Raisel Iglesias finished second with an 8.6 K/BB ratio.

31. Kevin Gausman had a 3.31 first half xFIP versus a 3.23 mark in the second half. However, he had a 1.73 first half ERA versus a 4.42 mark in the second half.

32. Over his final 14 starts, 12 of which lasted 6 IP or more, Logan Webb went 7-0 while compiling a 2.68 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. He didn’t walk more than two batters in any of those starts.

33. Webb’s season-long ground ball rate of 60.9% would’ve led MLB if he had the innings to qualify.

34. Francisco Lindor had an unlucky .248 BABIP in 2021, which was the seventh lowest in MLB.

35. Bobby Witt Jr. totaled 33 homers and 29 stolen bases in the minors last summer, falling one steal short of becoming the ninth 30/30 player in Minor League Baseball since 2000.

36. Shane Baz led Minor League Baseball in K/BB (8.7) among pitchers with at least 70 innings.

37. Among starting pitchers with at least 120 innings, Shane McClanahan ranked ninth in swinging strike rate (14.8%) and eighth in xFIP (3.23).

38. Brandon Lowe hit .208 with a .782 in the first half of 2021. He hit .291 with a .959 OPS in the second half.

39. Over Emmanuel Clase’s final 32 2/3 innings he recorded a 0.28 ERA with a 33:2 K:BB ratio.

40. Joe Musgrove pitched a career-high 181 2/3 innings in his first season with the Padres. He had a 3.18 ERA backed up by a 3.67 xERA and a 3.65 xFIP.

41. Yu Darvish had a 3.09 first half ERA compared to a 6.16 mark in the second half. However, his xFIP was 3.76 before the break versus 3.74 afterwards.

42. In 2021 Yasmani Grandal became the first catcher to post a .420 OBP since Joe Mauer in 2009.

43. Aroldis Chapman registered a 0.43 ERA with a 40.8 K-BB% (!!) over his first 21 innings. He had a 5.09 ERA with a 16.8 K-BB% over his final 35 1/3 IP.

44. Jarred Kelenic hit .181/.265/.350 with a 28.1 K% overall. In September he hit .248/.331/.524 with a 24.6 K% (plus seven homers and three stolen bases).

45. Alek Manoah led rookies in WHIP (1.05) and batting average against (.192) while finishing second in ERA and third in K/9.

46. Among pitchers with at least 110 innings Logan Gilbert finished 14th in K/BB, 27th in K-BB%, and 17th in walk rate.

47. Jonathan India introduced a subtler toe tap on May 30th. From that point on he hit .282/.390/.491 with a 134 wRC+.

48. From 2017-20 Kyle Schwarber hit .229/.334/.480 with a 110 wRC+. In 2021 he hit .266/.374/.554 with a 145 wRC+.

49. Clayton Kershaw stated 22 games last season. He hasn’t made 30 starts in the regular season since 2015.

50. Willy Adames had a .625 OPS with a 35.9 K% with the Rays in 2021. He posted an .886 OPS with a 25.4 K% after being traded to the Brewers. He’s still just 26 years old.

51. Over his final eight starts Blake Snell posted a 1.83 ERA with a 2.94 xFIP and just an 8.5 BB%. For comparison, he had a 9.1 BB% when he won the Cy Young award in 2018.

52. Patrick Sandoval’s 15.2% swinging strike rate would’ve ranked sixth in MLB if he had the innings to qualify.

53. Alex Kirilloff had a 96.5 mph average exit velocity before his wrist injury on May 3rd. Afterwards, he had just an 89.7 mph average exit velocity.

54. Jesus Sanchez hit 14 homers in just 64 games in the majors. A lefty hitter, he posted a 114 wRC+ against lefties and a 116 mark versus righties.

55. If he had the plate appearances to qualify, Evan Longoria would’ve ranked fourth in average exit velocity, seventh in hard-hit rate, and 25th in barrel rate.

56. Among hitters with at least 500 PAs since the start of 2020, Brandon Belt ranks third in wOBA and wRC+.

57. Eduardo Rodriguez posted a 4.74 ERA despite registering a 3.50 xERA and a 3.43 xFIP.

58. Tanner Houck posted a 3.52 ERA to go along with a 3.22 xERA and a 3.20 xFIP.

59. In 123 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Adley Rutschman had a 79:90 BB:K ratio while hitting .285/.397/.502 with 23 homers.

60. Oneil Cruz has played two games in the majors and already owns the Pirates’ franchise record for hardest hit baseball during the Statcast era (since 2015).
