Los Angeles Lakers News

Confirmed Lineup: D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, LeBron James, Anthony Davis

  • LeBron James (ankle) — Available

  • Anthony Davis (Achilles, hip) — Available

  • Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) — Injured

  • Cam Reddish (ankle) — Injured

  • Gabe Vincent (knee) — Injured

The Lakers are set to face the Hornets, who will be playing their second game in as many nights. Charlotte has been one of the worst teams in basketball this season and has lost seven consecutive contests. However, James knows that on any given night, any team can be defeated. "They are an NBA team, and if we don't come to play, they will beat us," James said after Saturday's win. If Davis suits up, he could be a major factor, as centers are scoring the most points per game (27.0) against the Hornets this season.

  • Kyrie Irving (thumb) — In

  • Luka Doncic (ankle) — Available

  • Maxi Kleber (toe) — Available

  • Dereck Lively II (nose) — Out

  • Dante Exum (knee) — Out

If Irving ultimately plays sans Doncic, expect him to garner more opportunities, particularly on the offensive end. In 22 games with Doncic available, Irving has averaged 24.0 points in 32.4 minutes per contest and has posted a 28.8% usage rate. When playing without Doncic, Irving averages 30.6 points in 37.2 minutes per game and has a 32.4% usage rate. The Mavs will match up against the 76ers, who will be without Joel Embiid (knee).

  • De'Andre Hunter (injury management) — Available

  • Saddiq Bey (ankle) — Available

  • Clint Capela (adductor) — Injured

  • Vit Krejci (shoulder) — Injured

  • Mouhamed Gueye (back) — Injured

Capela will miss at least a week, which will result in Okongwu having an elevated role for the foreseeable future. Okongwu started and received 36 minutes in the previous outing. He scored 22 points and shot eight-of-12 from the field while grabbing 16 rebounds. He and the Hawks will face the Clippers, who are playing in the second leg of a back-to-back set. L.A.'s injury report for the game hasn't been submitted, but with Zubac (calf) recently returning from an extended absence, there's at least a chance that he sits. If so, Okongwu could have an opportune matchup against Mason Plumlee.

Confirmed Lineup: CJ McCollum, Herb Jones, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Jonas Valanciunas

  • Zion Williamson (foot) — In

  • Herb Jones (adductor) — In

With two of the Pelicans' starters dealing with injuries, Trey Murphy III could have an increased role again. He started in the previous outing with Jones sidelined and played 27 minutes. Murphy III has averaged 13.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in five starts this season. Regardless of Williamson and Jones' final statuses, the Pelicans should compete against the Raptors, who have lost 12 of their last 15 outings.
