The 76ers will begin their first-round series against the Knicks, who they went 1-3 against during the regular season. Embiid was only available for one of those meetings, and he's uncertain to play in Saturday's game. Paul Reed and Mo Bamba will handle most of the minutes at center if Embiid is sidelined. Despite ruling Melton out for Game 1, coach Nurse wasn't comfortable ruling him out for an extended period. “I wouldn’t rule him out for the whole series just yet. The series is gonna be long, but he didn’t practice today and he’s not playing tomorrow.”

The Lakers and Nuggets have a history dating back to last year's postseason. Now, they'll meet in the opening round of the 2024 playoffs. Denver has won eight consecutive games versus Los Angeles, but James isn't thinking about his team's recent history against the Nuggets. "I think you're putting a little bit too much emphasis on it," James said. "This is our first-round matchup. I mean, we're looking forward to the postseason. But I haven't been, like, looking forward to the rematch. The game is played how it's being played, and this is the matchup. So we're looking forward to that challenge."
