The contest between the Aces and Wings pits the league's two top scorers against one another. Quietly, Ogunbowale continues to lead the WNBA at 26.6 points per game. She and A'ja Wilson, who is 0.1 point per game behind, are over three clear of anyone else. The WNBA record for points per game is 25.3, set by Diana Taurasi in 2006. Only two players have ever averaged 24 points per game or higher for a full season: Taurasi (2006, 2008) and Jewell Loyd (2023).

The Lynx are alongside the Liberty as perhaps the most balanced team to begin the season. Minnesota ranks third in offensive rating (103.1) and second in defensive rating (92.7); New York is also in the top three in each category. Minnesota is off to a 6-2 start on the season, with only an overtime loss to the undefeated Sun and a loss to the defending champion Aces on their resume.
