Updated every Monday, this column will look at various stats that explain how RBs are being used by the NFL teams. I'm particularly looking for usage near the end zone and usage in clear passing situations.

2021 Per Game Stats

All data is per game, including the NFL Playoffs. Must average 5.0 or more opportunities and have at least 5 games to qualify.

2021 Situational Stats

These are per-game stats, including NFL Playoffs. Minimum 5 games and 5 opportunities per game to qualify. This is best viewed on desktop.

• "Dream Opps" = Inside 5 + Situational Targets

• "Inside 5" = Targets and carries inside the five-yard line

• "Situation Targets" = Targets in the two-minute drill, OR on 3rd down with at least 3 yards to go, OR targets with an in-game team winning percentage below 30%. Basically, when I think the pass-game RB would be in.

• "Early Down" = Targets and carries on 1st or 2nd down

• "Third Down" = Targets and carries on 3rd down

• "Early Down Rate" = % of targets and carries on 1st or 2nd down

• "Garbage Rate" = % of targets and carries with an in-game team winning percentage below 10% or above 90%.
