Week 16 Fantasy Football Recap Notes
Week 16 RB Rankings
Jahmyr Gibbs - 123.5 total yards in Pick'em.
Josh Jacobs - 110.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB1 overall on RB1 overall usage this month.
The Packers are projected for the 2nd-most points. This is an eruption spot at home against the Saints, who are 2nd-worst in rushing success rate since Week 5. Green Bay is 14.5-point home favorites.
Bijan Robinson - 115.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB6 overall on RB2 overall usage this month.
The Falcons are projected for the 9th-most points, and the team total didn't move much with the Michael Penix announcement. If anything, this is probably slightly worse news for B-Rob beacuse the Falcons were trending towards the most run-heavy team in the NFL with Kirk Cousins. We'll see if Penix is a total upgrade leading to more TD opportunities, or if the Falcons pass downfield more with varying success. This is uncharted territory. Typically the RBs are least affected.
The matchup is ideal against a Giants unit that's 5th-worst against fantasy RBs and missing multiple DTs, including All Pro caliber DT Dexter Lawrence. Atlanta is 8.5-point favorites.
Chase Brown - 109.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB2 overall on RB3 overall usage this month.
The Bengals are projected for the 3rd-most points as 7.5-point favorites.
James Conner - 107.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB8 on RB13 usage this month, but Conner is also coming off back-to-back season highs in expected half PPR points and he finished as the RB1 overall in actual fantasy points just last week. Trey Benson picked up an injury and isn't trusted. Emari Demercado is on IR. It's Conner and special-teamer DeeJay Dallas right now.
The Cardinals are projected for the 6th-most points. This is an eruption spot against a Panthers defense that's allowed the most fantasy points to RB, including the most carries, rushing yards, and rushing TDs.
Saquon Barkley - 109.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB3 overall on RB5 overall usage this month.
The Bucs are projected for the 10th-most points.
De'Von Achane - 93.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB11 overall on RB4 overall usage this month.
Kyren Williams - 97.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB7 on RB7 usage this month.
The Rams are projected for the 7th-most points against a Jets defense that's 4th-worst in rushing success rate since Week 5.
Chuba Hubbard - 91.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB25 on RB11 usage this month, but in games without Jonathan Brooks (ACL), Hubbard has averaged 14.7 HPPR points. That'd make him the RB14 this month.
Joe Mixon - 85.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB19 on RB8 usage this month, and Mixon picked up a minor ankle injury last week.
The Texans are projected for the 5th-fewest points against the Chiefs, who are the best fantasy RB defense by a wide margin. They've allowed a league-low 17.2 carries and 63 rushing yards per game to the position. That's 3.66 yards per carry for those who know what "division" is.
Bucky Irving - 85.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB4 overall on RB6 overall usage this month when removing his injured game. Last week, he exploded on 11.8 expected half PPR points in a near even split. The Bucs are projected for the 5th-most points this week in a total eruption spot.
Derrick Henry - 86.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB21 on RB23 usage this month. The Ravens are projected for the 8th-most points, which is lower than normal for them. Part of that is the Steelers' strong defense and slow offense.
Rico Dowdle - 89.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB14 on RB17 usage this month. On the season, Dowdle's 58% rushing success rate leads the position. Leads!!!
The Buccaneers have allowed the 3rd-fewest carries to RBs, but they are injured and can be had through the air.
Brian Robinson - 66.5 total yards in Pick'em.
We didn't feel it in the box score, but B-Rob had a season-high 17.6 expected half PPR points last week without Austin Ekeler. The OL has some issues right now, but Washington lost Noah Brown (ribs) and Zach Ertz (concussion) as well. It's more-or-less Jayden Daniels, Terry McLauin, and B-Rob right now.
The Eagles are really good up front, allowing the 3rd-fewest fantasy points and only 5 rushing TDs to the position. This ranking is really about his bankable workload.
Jonathan Taylor - 96.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB26 on RB15 usage this month.
James Cook - 81.5 total yards in Pick'em.
The Bills are projected for the most points, and they are 14.0-point home favorites.
This is a 3-way committee at RB with Ty Johnson playing passing downs, Cook operating as the explosive rusher, and Ray Davis working in as a hammer.
Aaron Jones - 86.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB10 on RB14 usage this month.
Rachaad White - 69.5 total yards in Pick'em.
In his last 3 games with a healthy Bucky Irving, White has averaged 11.5 half PPR points on 10.6 expected points. That's low-end RB2 value, and the Bucs are projected for the 5th-most points this week in an eruption spot. You can do worse in the flex!
Breece Hall - 81.5 total yards in Pick'em.
This is a committee backfield, but Braelon Allen may have exited the backfield. Hall had 8.1 expected half PPR points with a last-second touchdown to save your consolation bracket.
Patrick Taylor - 47.5 total yards in Pick'em.
I've taken the higher on his yards.
Isaac Guerendo (doubtful) had 13.5 and 11.7 expected half PPR points in his two starts, but neither of them were normal games however. Without LT Trent Williams, the 49ers haven't been the same (22.25 team total), so Taylor doesn't provide the same profile as Jordan Mason and Guerendo did. Expect Taylor to be the primary rusher with Izzy Abanikanda and Ke'Shawn Vaughn also active. Here's what coach Kyle Shanahan said about Taylor:
"He's been here since training camp. He's done a real good job for us, played in this league before, has experience there at Green Bay, and when he's gotten his opportunities with us, he's ran the ball well. And when he hasn't run the ball, he's really helped us on special teams. So, big opportunity for him, and glad we've got him." Abanikanda and Vaughn both showed up this December.
Kenneth Walker - 75.5 total yards in Pick'em.
Both Walker (calf) and Zach Charbonnet (oblique) were full participants on Friday and completely left off the final injury report. This will likely be the rotation we were used to pre-injury. In their last 3 games together, Walker has averaged 9.9 half PPR points on 13.4 expected as a boom-bust RB2. Charbonnet only saw 5.1 expected points over that span as a bench hold only.
Jerome Ford - 75.5 total yards in Pick'em.
Nick Chubb was the RB20 on RB24 usage this past month as the Browns' lead back. Ford isn't a lock for goal line carries, but he certainly is the favorite for them over D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong.
Isiah Pacheco - 69.5 total yards in Pick'em.
This is a 3-way committee, and the Texans are 4th-best against fantasy RBs on the 3rd-best rushing success rate. We'll see if they have an answer at LT versus these edge rushers.
Kendre Miller
The Saints are projected for the fewest points.
Najee Harris - 65.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He's the RB27 on RB21 usage this month, and the Steelers are projected for the 4th-fewest points this week. They borderline have an unserious offense is George Pickens (questionable) isn't available to create the threat of a downfield shot.
The Ravens are 2nd-best in rushing success rate allowed since Week 5.
Travis Etienne - 58.5 total yards in Pick'em.
His 13.9 expected half PPR points last week were the most he's had since Week 2, but Etienne is only the RB33 on RB27 this month because Tank Bigsby has been involved, too.
Alexander Mattison - 63.5 total yards in Pick'em.
The Jaguars have allowed the 2nd-most fantasy points to RBs, and believe it or not, the Raiders are home favorites this week.
This assumes Sincere McCormick (ankle) and Zamir White are out, leaving Mattison as the early-down favorite with Ameer Abdullah catching passes in garbage time. In that role, Mattison was hovering around 10 half PPR points. The floor is far lower than that.
Rhamondre Stevenson - 66.5 total yards in Pick'em.
The Patriots are projected for the 2nd-fewest points, and he's the RB39 on RB26 usage this month with Antonio Gibson mixing in. The only positive is the Bills have allowed the most receptions to RBs this year.
Tyrone Tracy (Questionable) - 68.5 total yards in Pick'em.
He was limited (ankle) all week.
The Giants are projected for the 3rd-fewest points, and Tracy doesn't have the bellcow workload right now. He's a sit if possible.
D'Andre Swift - 74.5 total yards in Pick'em.
Roschon Johnson (concussion) is on track to return. Swift has been the RB38 on RB25 usage this month largely without him. Not great.
The Lions are super injured up front, but they've limited RBs to the 2nd-fewest carries this season partially because of game script.
Tony Pollard (Questionable)
He went DNP-DNP-DNP after a setback in last week's game, one that he was unable to finish. It was all Tyjae Spears in the 4th quarter last week.
He's the RB17 on RB16 usage this month.
Tyjae Spears
This assumes Pollard (questionable) plays but is not himself. If Pollard is fully out, Spears is a top-25 play.
Zach Charbonnet (Questionable)
He has averaged 21.9 half PPR points on 15.8 expected points without Kenneth Walker (questionable) this season, but an injured Geno Smith and a bat-shit crazy Vikings defense complicates things. Minnesota is 2nd-best against fantasy RBs on the 4th-fewest carries.
Javonte Williams - 60.5 total yards in Pick'em.

Ja'Marr Chase - 89.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Bengals are projected for the 3rd-most points, but we'll get a great matchup with CB1 Denzel Ward.
Puka Nacua - 85.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR4 on WR4 usage this month.
The Rams are projected for the 8th-most points against Sauce Gardner's Jets.
Justin Jefferson - 84.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Vikings are projected for the 11th-most points against the emerging Seahawks defense.
Mike Evans - 76.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR9 on WR23 usage this month while recovering from a hamstring injury. We should be fully passed that point now, and the Bucs are projected for the 5th-most points.
Cowboys CB1 Trevon Diggs (knee) is out for the season.
Nico Collins - 80.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Texans are projected for the 4th-fewest points against the Chiefs.
Amon-Ra St. Brown - 69.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Lions are projected for the 4th-most points, and their insanely injured defense only helps his fantasy production. No David Montgomery should help, too.
CeeDee Lamb - 74.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's averaged 12.5 half PPR points on 13.3 expected with Cooper Rush.
The Bucs are severely injured on defense, specifically at safety where Lamb does get some matchups.
A.J. Brown - 73.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Eagles are projected for the 10th-most points. He'll see some CB1 Marshon Lattimore.
Brian Thomas - 71.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR8 on WR2 overall usage this month. He's one of the best WRs in the NFL already on tape. The 22-year-old can do everything. That's not an exaggeration. It helps that Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, and Evan Engram are out.
The Raiders placed EDGE Maxx Crosby on IR. Star DT Christian Wilkins and CB1 Jakorian Bennett are also on IR.
Davante Adams - 72.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR1 overall on WR1 overall usage this month.
Terry McLaurin - 65.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Last week was a season-high 16.8 expected half PPR points, which happened to be in the first game without Noah Brown (IR), Austin Ekeler (IR), and Zach Ertz (concussion). The Commanders simply have no depth and are now moving McLaurin across the formation to scheme him open or make him the primary on concepts.
Tee Higgins - 71.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
There was uncertainty mid week, but Higgins was left off the injury report and returned in limited fashion on Friday. He should see his normal workload.
He's the WR13 in usage this month, and the Bengals are projected for the 3rd-most points. Browns CB2 Greg Newsome is on IR.
Tyreek Hill - 72.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Jaylen Waddle (knee) is unlikely to play.
Ladd McConkey - 66.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Broncos CB1 Pat Surtain is the best in the business, but CB2 Riley Moss is out. Surtain nearly strictly plays outside corner only, so this is more of a Quentin Johnston and Josh Palmer issue. McConkey should only see him on a handful of routes, and the rookie has been good enough to compete with the best.
Malik Nabers - 62.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The rookie set a season-high in routes (21) and targets (11) out of the slot last week, and his production skyrocketed. He saw screens, slot fades, and everything in between. It was very encouraging usage and it plays to his explosive strengths. He's the WR24 on WR7 usage this month, but the arrow is pointing up, despite...
The Giants are projected for the 3rd-fewest points. At least the Falcons have allowed the 4th-most fantasy points to WRs.
Drake London - 64.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR30 on WR14 usage this month when the Falcons gave up on the pass game. Things could open up again with rookie Michael Penix.
The Falcons are projected for the 9th-most points, and the Giants have 5 CBs on the injury report right now.
Cooper Kupp - 58.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Last week was a disaster, but there wasn't anything physically different on tape than the previous weeks. The 49ers simply had an A+ game plan to stop his option routes and their zone defense passed things on beautifully. Not every team has a Fred Warner to stop it. This week's interior matchup with the injured Jets is a positive one for Kupp. The Rams are projected for the 8th-most points.
The Jets are without their LB, slot CB, and strong S. That's who defends Kupp. This is an underrated eruption spot.
Courtland Sutton - 64.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR11 on WR16 usage this month, but the Broncos team total sits at 19.25 points on the road on a short week against an above-average divisional opponent. It's a difficult spot for Sutton, who is a stud on tape weekly. Last week's double move TD was another wrinkle to his game.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba - 62.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's been the WR20 on WR35 usage this month, while averaging 11.1 expected half PPR points in his last 5 games with the banged-up Metcalf.
Geno Smith is on track to play. This is a great matchup for screen production. For example, D.J. Moore had 5 screen receptions against the Vikings last week. Minnesota has allowed the most WR receptions this year as a whole.
Garrett Wilson - 62.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's averaged 11.6 half PPR points on 11.4 expected with Davante Adams, who has been a total baller of late. Over the last month with Aaron Rodgers looking better, Wilson is the WR31 on WR24 usage.
DJ Moore - 53.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR18 on WR11 usage this month. Without ex-OC Shane Waldron, DJM has averaged 14.0 half PPR points on 12.6 expected points, and he saw another 5 screens last week.
This is a great matchup against an injured Lions defense, who are 1-of-2 teams with 200+ receptions to WRs.
Keenan Allen - 53.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR14 on WR5 usage this month. Without ex-OC Shane Waldron, Keenan has averaged 13.7 half PPR points on 14.6 expected points. That's real production. In fact, last week when removing screens, he had a 54% target share.
This is a great matchup against an injured Lions defense, who are 1-of-2 teams with 200+ receptions to WRs.
Jauan Jennings - 63.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's firmly the top receiver on the team and is an obvious positive regression candidate, but the 49ers' team total is down without LT Trent Williams and Jennings will see CB1 Jalen Ramsey on the outside.
DeVonta Smith - 51.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Last week was an outlier 19.1 expected half PPR points, but it was timely after the pass game was routinely called out. Hopefully last week was a sign that the offense is about to lock in.
The Eagles are projected for the 10th-most points. He'll see some CB1 Marshon Lattimore.
Jordan Addison - 51.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR5 on WR9 usage this month as the post route king. The Vikings are projected for the 11th-most points, so deep target production is expected again.
Zay Flowers - 59.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Ravens are projected for the 6th-most points, and Rashod Bateman (foot) and Nelson Agholor (concussion) are questionable to play.
DK Metcalf - 62.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Metcalf is leading the NFL in percentage of his targets coming in contested situations. That's not ideal. He's not getting the easy targets anymore (JSN), and he hasn't been great in contested situations historically. The injuries can't be helping. This month, Metcalf is the WR49 in usage.
Minnesota has allowed the most WR receptions this year as a whole.
Adam Thielen - 57.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Xavier Legette (groin) is out. Thielen was a full-time player last week and has been the best man coverage since returning from injury. Jalen Cooker (quad) and D.J. Moore (concussion) are also questionable.
Jakobi Meyers - 62.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He's the WR28 on WR10 usage this month. That pretty much sums it up. I do like Aidan O'Connell more than Desmond Ridder.
The Jaguars have allowed the 3rd-most fantasy points to WRs.
Jerry Jeudy - 61.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Cedric Tillman (concussion, limited) and David Njoku (hamstring, DNP) are equally as important news as the Jameis Winston benching. With the Browns, Winston's yards per attempt numbers (6.9) blow out Dorian Thompson-Robinson's 3.7. Now, DTR's numbers will improve off that low, but Winston's YOLO ball mentality has bred fantasy points. Jeudy is seeing more vertical routes this year, and I'm less convinced DTR will hit those. All this said, Jeudy has been the WR6 on WR15 usage this month, so there's room to drop off and still be a fantasy starter pending the target competition mentioned above.
Calvin Ridley - 59.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Mason Rudolph is a minor QB downgrade in the way he plays versus Will Levis.
Colts CB1 JuJu Brents went to IR.
Marvin Harrison - 52.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Cardinals are projected for the 7th-most points against the damn Panthers. This is an eruption spot.
Khalil Shakir - 47.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Bills are projected for the most points.
Jameson Williams - 49.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Lions are projected for the 4th-most points.
Darnell Mooney - 51.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Falcons are projected for the 9th-most points, but downfield Darnell is better suited with Michael Penix than Kirk Cousins in my opinion. We'll see if the Falcons actually have to pass this game as heavy favorites versus the Giants.
Romeo Doubs - 39.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Packers are projected for the 2nd-most points, and Doubs played 90% of the dropbacks last week.
The Saints have allowed the 5th-most fantasy points to WRs and traded away their top CB last month.
Jayden Reed - 40.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Packers are projected for the 2nd-most points, but Reed is a part-time player with WR61 usage this month. This does profile as a potential spike week game. We all understand what the floor is now.
The Saints have allowed the 5th-most fantasy points to WRs and traded away their top CB last month.
Xavier Worthy - 34.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He'll see some CB1 Derek Stingley on the outside.
DeAndre Hopkins - 41.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
He'll see some CB1 Derek Stingley on the outside.

The Bucs are projected for the 5th-most points, and Cade Otton is out.
Now, his two recent touchdowns have been completely manufactured (screen and a trips set wheel with a pick).
Josh Downs - 51.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Alec Pierce (concussion) is out, but that doesn't matter much for Downs.
Deebo Samuel - 43.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
Rome Odunze - 42.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The WR19 usage this month is the lone positive to point to. He has to catch more of these contested targets to be worthy of a top-10 NFL Draft pick, though.
Tank Dell - 40.5 receiving yards in Pick'em.
The Texans are projected for the 4th-fewest points.
